Description

Handball 4 Dual Careers (H4DC) aims at setting-up a comprehensive support service for the development of handball players’ dual careers through a collaborative approach between sporting bodies (clubs and federations), educational organisations and private sector representatives.
This initiative will target handball players from three different European Clubs (BM Granollers, Spain; Club Fenix Toulouse, France and IK Sävehof, Sweden) ranging from 12 years old to university students, including professional players.
Hence, H4DC follows a holistic approach to cover two main pillars of the Dual Careers concept, as stated in the EU Guidelines on Dual Careers :
i) ensuring players’ engagement in the educational system (including vocational training)
ii) fostering their employability potential.
H4DC specific objectives are:
1. conceive a club-based DC Support Service (DCSS), encompassing awareness raising, training and individual guidance;
2. test, monitor and evaluate the methodology with 120 players through pilot actions;
3. draw conclusions from the pilot actions and draft a Policy Recommendation Report, transferable to any handball or other interested sport club or sport organisation (Transferability Plan);
Besides the 3 clubs, the partnership is complemented by the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences, academic partner in charge of conceiving the DCSS methodology and evaluate it, as well as by the Federation of the European Sporting Goods Industry (FESI), which will facilitate the connection of the handball clubs with private companies from the sports industry, aiming at increasing the employability of players.
